Hello everyone! As part of our ‘Meet the Team’ series, we’ve so far introduced you to Steve Swindon, Nick Abear, and then Marcus Issacs… Now it’s time for someone else: our incredible and super organised Operations Assistant: Helen Smallwood.
1. Why did you join LoveSeitan and what does your job entail?
I work as LoveSeitan’s Operations Assistant, which means I provide administrative support to the team by checking and processing orders, responding to queries, supplying technical information – and general support running the businesses. It’s always busy here so it’s pretty full on!
I joined LoveSeitan in July 2020. I’ve been vegan since 2012, and vegetarian as long as I can remember, so I couldn’t wait to get on board with a company that shared my values! Being kind to animals, taking care of the planet, and creating wholesome and delicious food is very important to me.
2. What is your favourite type of seitan and why?
Definitely Sage & Onion. I adore comfort food, particularly roast dinners, and it’s just the perfect addition. I can recommend it sliced and roasted alongside some carrots and beetroot!
3. What do you love most about working with the LoveSeitan team?
Everyone is so positive, and shares the same goals – to raise awareness of what a great product Seitan is, and to create an honest, high quality product. Working with people that share those values is big difference maker!
4. Outside of work, what are your favourite hobbies/activities?
I love dancing Modern Jive, it’s a fun sociable hobby – and you exercise without realising you’re exercising! Luckily Strictly is back on the telly so I can get my dancing fix whilst face-to-face events are on hold. I am also a slow but enthusiastic runner!
5. What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given/quote you’ve ever heard?
“Everyone you will ever meet knows something that you don’t” – Bill Nye. Being a good listener and having an open mind is incredibly important to me. No matter who you are, you can always learn from those around you!
