Seitan Shish Kebab

Kebabs have rapidly become a famous and tasty delicacy across the world, especially the UK. A kebab is popularly seen as the perfect finish to a fun night out.  The kebab has its roots in both Asian and African cuisines and are thought to have originated in Turkey when soldiers used to grill chunks of freshly hunted animals skewed on swords on open field fires.  With the passage of time, kebabs have managed to find a very significant place in modern day cuisines.

Modern day shish kebabs are usually made from chunks of lamb which is cooked on an open flame. Using LoveSeitan’s chilli, smokey or classic seitan, you can make a delicious, healthy, vegan alternative to this traditional meat dish.

You will need a block of chilli, smokey or classic seitan – the flavour you choose will depend on the level of spice you like.  Cut the seitan into 2cm cubes and put on a wooden or metal skewer with slices of onion, peppers, courgettes, tomatoes and any other vegetables you fancy.  Place the kebabs onto a barbecue or under a grill to crisp everything up – you should not need to cook it for more than 10 minutes.  Turn the kebab regularly to ensure even cooking.

Serve with chilli, barbecue or any other sauce of your choosing.
